The Nicoise Salad is a classic salad from the 1800’s. I had mine, last night at the Warwick Hotel in NYC as I was in for the MM&M Awards judging.
The Warwick makes their classic Nicoise with Fresh Greens, Hard Boiled Eggs, Jersey Tomatoes, Kalamata Olives, Boiled Potatoes, Green Beans and Tuna with a Balsamic vinaigrette. I think the beauty of this salad is that with that many different ingredients that you get a different taste sensation in every bite by just changing the combination of items. You can also play with different texture and flavours by combining crispy greens with the soft eggs and salty olives with the sweet tuna, crispy green beans with the smooth boiled potatoes.
It was a great salad and just what I needed after all the burgers and steaks I have been eating lately. Thanks to Joe for taking the photo for me. BTW If you haven’t the Salad Survey yet, do it now.
